Labour MP Justyne Caruana yesterday tabled a motion for Parliament to debate the situation of the Gozo Court.
She claimed that as a result of the court’s limitations, certain procedures could not be assigned to it to the detriment of Gozitans. The motion noted that those involved in the judiciary process in Gozo had always felt the need for a change in the court’s way of operation.
Dr Caruana proposed that the Select Committee on the re-codification and consolidation of laws committee would carry out an exercise to evaluate the Code of Organisation and Civil Procedure and prepare a Bill with the amendments for debate in the House.
She argued that all this should give the Gozo Court the dignity of a Superior Court with a sitting judge for Gozo.
