A man who assaulted a traffic warden and a police officer over a parking ticket was handed a suspended prison sentence yesterday.

Fredu Mangion, 67, admitted assaulting a warden and a constable in Triq Il-Barrieri, Żurrieq, at 2pm on Tuesday.

Mr Mangion, of Żurrieq, had been given a ticket for displaying an expired licence disc on his windscreen. When he saw the warden an argument began and the police were called in.

He was also found guilty of threatening and slightly injuring the warden and officer.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment suspended for one year.
