Every student of the University of Malta knows about the great problem of parking within the University grounds so much so that it has become a source of unwanted stress to us student who currently use a private car as a means of transport.

On April 17 and 18, car park 6, that provides the most car parking spaces to students only, was closed for the filming of a certain Italian movie or series in which a famous Italian actor is taking part. The University authorities failed to inform absolutely anyone of such an event, not even the University Students’ Council, that the car park area was to be closed down.

This resulted in a lot of hassle, with many near collisions between cars driven by students (myself included) trying to park even before 8 a.m.

As a University student, I do not feel that the University authorities care about their students and do not understand that parking is a hideous reality they have to face each and every day of their scholastic week.

Some sort of authority must take serious action about this issue because it will only get worse every year. If the government appreciates the importance of higher education this issue must be tackled.
