Abusive double parking occurs every day in Mensija Road, San Ġwann opposite the cart ruts. This situation is caused by Maltapost every single day, sometimes even twice a day, when the employees come to collect their letters for delivery. Maltapost had ample parking space inside the building but changed it into a storage area and a garage for their old mobile post office.

This double parking creates havoc every single day but, despite numerous reports to the local council and the police, no action has been taken.

The matter was reported to Maltapost themselves but we have been ignored. Wardens occasionally show up but never during the time when this abuse is in progress.

Before the permit was issued by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority for the location of this sorting office, a group of residents lodged their complaints but were completely ignored by the chairwoman who led the hearing. Even the council refuses to support the residents with their complaint.

Apart from being abusive, it is also a danger to other cars and pedestrians. And there have already been a number of minor incidents at this spot. The authorities and the council have an obligation to look into this matter and stop this abuse before a major accident occurs.
