Paris-based Maltese guitarist Sandro Zerafa recently released The Bigger Picture, his third album as a band leader.

The album was recorded last September by Gérard de Haro and Nicolas Baillard, at La Buissonne studios in Pernes-Les-Fontaines. Mixing and mastering were done at New York’s Avatar Studios, by Katsuhiko Naito.

Released on the PJU record label, the album features Laurent Coq on piano, Olivier Zanot on sax, Yoni Zelnik on bass, Fred Pasqua on drums and Zerafa on guitar.

“The Bigger Picture is the album I enjoyed recording the most,” Zerafa commented. He also described it as his most personal music statement, as well as his least self-conscious record to date.

“It basically sums up all the influences that have shaped me as a musician over the years, which can be a burden, as there are decades of great music to live up to behind you.”

The album was supported by the Malta Arts Fund and the Janatha Stubbs Foundation.
