On December 19, the boys of St Patrick’s Salesian School produced the Annual Pantomine at the Salesian Theatre in Sliema. This year’s pantomine was based on the famous Charles Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol.

I was much impressed by the efforts made by the Salesian boys. The boy who played Scrooge deserves a particular mention. It is more than obvious that a lot of preparation went into this production and the audience expressed their acknowledgement and appreciation a number of times during the performance.

Our founder Don Bosco used to give a lot of importance to theatre, acting and singing. He used the stage to educate the boys. In fact the theatre plays an important role in his Preventive Educative System.

The work of the Salesian educator is a labour of love, and Don Bosco’s preventive system asks of each educator to work hard as for him, teaching is a vocation. It is a profession which demands dedication; where there is little room for the uncommitted, inept and indecisive.

I really enjoyed the evening. Well done and congratulations. We are proud of you.
