The Palumbo Group has won a tender for a shipyard in Marseille, one of the biggest in the Mediterranean fully dedicated to superyachts.

The shortlist for the tender pitted Palumbo against Maltese rival Melita Marine, but the latter withdrew its bid at the final stages.

Palumbo Marseille Superyachts ITM – the new name of the shipyard – covers 12,000 square metres, comprising four large drydocks ranging from 80 metres to 126 metres, a 95-metre watershed, and more than 300 metres of quays for afloat repairs.

Palumbo Group plans to invest in the facilities, buying new equipment and lifting systems in order to improve and increase the range of services to offer to its clients.

Palumbo Shipyard, founded in 1967, now has five shipyards in Naples, Messina, Marseille and Malta, offering 14 drydocks and an operational area of 520,000 square metres in all.
