The Nationalist Party has refused to let one of its MPs sit on an action committee for economic growth, calling the role unconstitutional.
Including MP Tonio Fenech would be tantamount to him serving as a government consultant and “go against the constitutional role of the Opposition”, the PN said.
But the Government felt the PN’s “negative” stance was a missed opportunity.
“The role of the Opposition remains alive and well, but the PN isn’t reading the signs of the times. The role is evolving and people expect positive politics,” its statement read.
