Many must have thought that with the election of Simon Busuttil as PN leader, the great division which existed in the PN’s parliamentary group under Lawrence Gonzi’s leadership would become a thing of the past.

However, the recent vote taken on the Civil Unions Bill has shown that the PN, now in Opposition, is still a divided parliamentary group.

Reports in a number of newspapers have highlighted this division as well as Busuttil’s inability to bring cohesion within his parliamentary group. How can such a party offer peace of mind to the Maltese people that it won’t be divided, as it was in the last legislature, if it had to be elected to office?
