Peter Apap Bologna (The changing face of politics, April 23) appealed for the Nationalist Party to “adopt the fundamental philosophy and commitment to govern for all the people”.

The PN did precisely that when it represented in Parliament the 80 per cent of people in Malta who

disagree with gay adoption provisions in the civil unions law, when not even marriage law provides for adoptions for married couples.

The PN went even further and represented children’s rights in Parliament. Unfortunately, “the changing face of politics” nowadays fails to represent those who don’t have a vote, be it children, the environment, the common good and the rights of future generations.

The reasons for its vote were made amply clear by the PN: full agreement with civil unions but reservations about gay adoptions. In this, the PN represented a very large majority and heeded Apap Bologna’s appeal before it was even made.
