The Nationalist Party continues to harp on the message that the Labour Party is not a responsible Opposition. Was the Opposition responsible enough during the Libyan campaign and the role played by Malta during this sensitive and delicate period? Was the Opposition responsible enough when Tonio Borg was nominated to replace John Dalli as European commissioner? Was the Opposition responsible enough to support the IVF Bill?

The PN should define what they understand by “responsible”. Does the PN mean that the Labour Party should keep mum on the numerous conflicts of interest of government officials, on the way public funds have been used and on the modus operandi of PBS or the Government’s overall performance?

If this is what they mean by “responsible” then it is amply clear that the PN has not changed since the time of Terinu’s false affidavit against Gerald Strickland in 1927.

It also portrays the PN’s hypocrisy when it speaks of European values, like freedom of speech and the rule of law, when it actually does everything within its power to hinder these two fundamental values. This has been confirmed time and again by Nationalist MPs Franco Debono, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett.

The PN has lost all credibility. Its leaders and acolytes are by far past their expiry date. Roll on election day.
