The Nationalist Party has called on the Prime Minister to take action over comments allegedly made by Elderly Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana in a meeting with workers last week.
One of those present reported what had been said “despite threats” and Dr Muscat, who often preached about political responsibility, had a clear test before him, the party said.
The Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin last week accused Dr Caruana of threatening day centre managers that they would be reported to the Police Commissioner if they followed a legal directive issued by the union. She denies having said so.
The PN said it condemned such comments, especially when they are made by a Cabinet member.
“It is irresponsible that a politician meant to take care of the dignity of the elderly speaks this way to workers,” it said.
