Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday conceded that “the majority of society” did not agree with his position in favour of spring hunting.

“I know I’m in the minority, I know the majority of society doesn’t see this the same way I do, and I will follow the decision taken by the people,” Dr Muscat said in a pre-recorded interview for Dissett on TVM last night.

Dr Muscat had said he would be voting to retain the spring hunting season shortly after the constitutional court gave the go-ahead for the vote last week. This, he said, should not have come as a surprise as he had always made his position on the matter clear.

Yesterday, he insisted that despite his position, he and the entire Labour Party would not be campaigning to retain spring hunting.
