Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said he wanted to forge closer ties with the University of Malta, adding that the two sides would be holding regular meetings.

Dr Muscat yesterday met University Rector Juanito Camilleri and the College of Deans at the Aula Magna within the Old University in Valletta.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Finance Minister, the Education Minister and other senior government officials, saying that he wanted to have the key decision-makers present for such an important event.

Prof. Camilleri said Malta must continually strive to be a step ahead but at the same time had to plan according to the country’s needs and financial constraints.
