Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi flew to London yesterday to address the Diamond Jubilee Commonwealth Economic Forum.

During the forum, titled Shaping Capitalism For Global Prosperity And Sustainable Growth, Dr Gonzi spoke about the government’s investment and how it was constantly reviewing its expenditure “with a shift from unproductive expenditure to productive capital projects”.

“We have privatised industries and are seeking new private-public partnerships. We remain committed to Malta’s fiscal health and, this year, we continued to reduce our deficit, which stands at below three per cent of GDP,” he said.

In London, Dr Gonzi also attended a lunch hosted by the Commonwealth Secretary General to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, attended by Her Majesty.
