The Labour Party yesterday lauded the government’s fuel policy in favour of price stability noting that the EU average price of petrol and diesel rose by 1c this week.

Quoting the latest statistics issued by the European Commission, Labour said the average price of unleaded petrol in the EU this week stood at €1.30 a litre (€1.38 in Malta) and €1.18 a litre for diesel (€1.31 in Malta).

It said the highest increases this week were registered in Romania, where the price of unleaded petrol increased by 3c to €1.12 a litre and €1.17 for diesel and Belgium, where unleaded petrol was selling at €1.24 and diesel at €1.09.
