A conference on Promoting Healthy Lifestyles Through PE and Sport was recently organised by the University’s Institute for Physical Education and Sport at the Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa, Attard.

The keynote speaker was Janice Thompson from the University of Birmingham, who specialises in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition.

Five workshops on Inclusion, Coaching, Obesity and Weight Maintenance, Physical Education Settings and Physical Activity and Schooling were held. These were followed by a Let’s Get Moving session to get the participants moving to music.

A panel of experts from the Education Directorate, Malta Sports Council, University and Health Promotion discussed the way forward as to how all stakeholders can promote healthy lifestyles.

At the end of the conference, various individuals were honoured for their service in PE and Sport, and Philip Cauchi received the Michael Aquilina Award for his outstanding performance in the B.Ed (Hons) PE course 2008-2013.
