A new PBS studio theatre will be replacing Malex House in Pietà, the planning authority said in a statement.

The Mepa board granted planning permission for the redevelopment of Malex House into a new high definition studio theatre with offices and parking facilities.

The board also gave a permit for the redevelopment of a 4,500 square metre area within the Farsons Brewery Complex, limits of Birkirkara.

The site is currently occupied by a reservoir with its roof being utilised for the open storage of crates.

The new development will have a basement reservoir, ground floor beverage packaging hall and photovoltaic panels covering the roof.
