While on my latest visit to Malta last week I asked for two (tourist) day tickets at the Valletta bus kiosk and was told the price was €12.20.

When I asked how much, the price was repeated.

I then pointed out that twice €2.60 was €5.20 and offered a €10 note.

The ticket seller feigned surprise and said “How much did I say?”

When I told her, she said “Sorry” and I thought, “I bet you are!”

I realise Arriva is in desperate straits but is this a new way of boosting their finances?
