Over a month ago, I personally lodged a verbal report with the Żabbar local council about a street lamp that had been out of order for ages. I am convinced the clerk at the council’s office did her duty and passed on to Enemalta my request to fix the street lamp that was causing great inconvenience to all. The street lamp in question is attached to a pole and located in Żabbar Road. I was informed that, due to this fact, the maintenance works had necessarily to be undertaken by Enemalta.

As there is only one other street lamp attached to a residence in this road, this has resulted in half the area being left in pitch darkness at night. Enemalta has had its attention regularly drawn to this woeful state of affairs by the council clerk. However, unfortunately for us residents, its attitude is that of a couldn’t-care-less approach towards clients.

Being left without a proper service for over a month is disgusting, detestable and disappointing.

I trust the minister responsible for energy, who, I am sure, is totally unaware of this sad situation, will look into the matter and provide us with a remedy without undue delay.
