The number of Maltese who went abroad this summer increased by nearly 10 per cent compared to last year.

The number of outbound tourists for the third quarter increased by 9.8 per cent over the same period in 2014.

From July to September, 126,709 people headed to EU countries – an increase of 7.7 per cent.

Italy and the UK remained the most popular destinations, at 47 per cent. The number of nights spent abroad increased by five per cent.
