Unemployment in October stood at 5.6 per cent, according to Eurostat figures, the lowest since the European statistics agency started including Malta in its data in 2000.

The rate in Malta was the third lowest in the EU, the government said yesterday. It also pointed out that before last year’s elections, the unemployment rate was 6.9 per cent.
