About 480 kilogrammes of expired Vietnamese shrimps arriving from Italy have been seized by the Environment Health Directorate and port services.

The consignment, which arrived on Monday, had an expiry date of November 2010.

It has been withheld and investigations are taking place.

The inspection was co-ordinated by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, Health Inspectorate, Customs Department and the Veterinary Services.

Traders were reminded action would be taken if consignments were non-compliant, irrespective of the place of despatch .
