A wedding ring belonging to Sharon Osbourne appears to have been found through an appeal on Crimewatch, police said yesterday.

South Yorkshire Police took part in the programme to try to get information on a jewellery haul worth £1 million, and the diamond ring was among the items.

The former X Factor judge’s daughter Kelly posted an entry on Twitter after the programme that said: “Thank you crime watch my mum is over the moon thats here [sic] wedding ring she cried with joy because she can get it back! Thank you!”

South Yorkshire Police’s economic crime unit manager Graham Wragg said: “Following a force appeal on Tuesday’s BBC Crimewatch programme to trace the owners of more than a million pounds worth of jewellery, anonymous information was received that some of the featured items may belong to Sharon Osbourne, stolen in a raid on her house in 2004.

“Officers from South Yorkshire are now liaising with Thames Valley Police to check if any of the pieces match those taken during the burglary.”

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s house in Buckinghamshire was burgled in November 2004 and items including wedding rings, a pearl necklace, watches and a 24-carat sapphire were stolen.
