Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil yesterday challenged Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi to repeat what he had just said about him in Parliament outside the House so that he could institute libel proceedings.

Answering a number of questions by Claudio Grech (PN), Mr Mizzi had said Attard Petroleum Services Ltd had experienced problems with its stock of aviation fuel at a time when Dr Busuttil was the company’s legal adviser.

The PN had been trying to entice disgruntled companies back to its fold and Dr Busuttil, who was also PN deputy leader, had recommended the company be given €4 million and this was done, Mr Mizzi claimed.

Despite being warned to remain silent, he had personally brought the goings-on in the Mediterranean Offshore Banking Company to the attention of the House, but nothing had been done about it, he added.

MOBC was now being repeatedly mentioned in the investigation of the oil procurement scandal.
