Yesterday morning’s sitting of the House of Representatives was interrupted for the Speaker to deliver a ruling after Nationalist Whip David Agius insisted that the timetable of the House should be as agreed in the House Business Committee.

Amid interruptions, he said that the House was meant to hold its next sitting yesterday evening at 6pm and not at 2pm followed by another session at 6pm.

The House is currently discussing the Individual Investor Programme, which includes the citizenship for sale scheme.

Minister Louis Grech, Leader of the House, said the Government had decided on the number of sittings based on the fact that more Nationalist MPs wished to speak.

More sittings would be held if necessary.

The sitting was suspended for 30 minutes.

The Speaker then ruled that the House may meet at 2pm because what it decided could override what was decided in the House Business Committee.

However, the House then adjourned to 6pm.
