Some 3,000 people visited the recent open weekend at Girgenti Palace, raising more than €12,500 for NGOs working in the mental health sector.

The event, coordinated by the Prime Minister’s wife Kate Gonzi, raised money through donations as well as the sale of several items.

“It helped in an immeasurable way to raise much needed funds for these organisations that provide a service to people with mental health conditions and their families.

“Above all, the environment at Girgenti, the messages conveyed by the NGOs and activities such as walks and meditation boosted our drive to encourage people to take care of mental wellbeing,” Ms Gonzi said.

“Our heartfelt appreciation goes to more than 160 volunteers from various organisations, and our main supporter – the HSBC Malta Foundation,” she said.
