Last week we (aged 9 and 8) found a pigeon in the garden. He had blood on his wing and couldn’t fly. We put him on the roof with water, food and a warm place to sleep and stayed with him most of that day and the next. He had beautiful green feathers on his neck and someone had put a ring on his foot.

We called him Jacques. The next day Jacques seemed better at first, but in the afternoon he died and we were very sad. It seems that the mayor of Sliema has asked some people to shoot pigeons because there are too many. We found out that there are other ways to have fewer pigeons, without hurting them like this. Please stop hurting the pigeons and find another way.
