San Ġorġ Preca College, Ħamrun (SS) Primary recently held an open day themed ‘Maltese traditions’.

Each year group, from kindergarten to year 6, worked on a different topic within the theme, including traditional games and songs, feasts, carnival, food, legends and folklore.

Projects included collages, 3D models, pop-up books, Powerpoint presentations, recipe cards and crafts.

Children also acted out short scenes based on the Great Siege and World War II; others acted as street hawkers and vendors, selling Maltese nougat, vegetables and flowers.

Teachers created a slideshow of digital photos which were taken during the preparation of the projects.
