LOL’s upcoming July offering at the Dolmen Resort Hotel boasts a dynamic line-up.

Tiernan Douieb, compere for the night, tends to draw his material from personal experience and observation, with a streak of quirkiness running through.

He has a penchant for zombies, James Bond, and other references to geek- and pop-culture.

Though a relatively young performer, his experience in comedy is already impressively varied – besides performing stand-up in contexts as diverse as TV warm-up and music festivals, he runs his own comedy club Fat Tuesday, is a performer on children’s shows and has made his name as a seasoned improv-comedian (forming part of the highly-acclaimed London Comedy Improv alongside Rufus Hound, Tara Flynn, Brendan Dempsey and Michael Legge).

He has explored the potential of comedy in other directions and media – notably, coming up with the idea for the world’s first ever Twitter Comedy Club, which attracted an estimated 14,000 viewers .

Dana Alexander is known for her bold and confident control of the stage and seemingly effort-less outreach toward the audience, capable of instantly drawing them into her evocatively-traced world.

Her roving and perceptive eye focuses on cultural differences, debunking myths and stereotypes, or alternatively celebrating them.

As a self-styled ‘tomboy comedian’, she herself skilfully evades the easy labels ‘black female comedian’, while not entirely abandoning that identity – instead, she plays with expectations and refashions the role, in a powerfully compelling manner.

She was voted one of the ‘Best Discoveries’ by Toronto’s renowned Now Magazine in 2006, and has since been included in their ‘Best Of’ issues three years in a row.

John Fothergill is no newcomer to our shores – this is the second time he is performing in a LOL XFM comedy show.

Originally from the small village of Crawcrook, near Newcastle, he strongly asserts his Geordie-roots, cultivating a vivid storytelling mode and a winning attitude.

Quick-witted in improvisation, he can always be relied upon to engage a room and liven up any crowd.

Apart from his work on the UK comedy circuit, he has also toured Ireland twice, performed in Hong Kong and regularly at the Edinburgh. In 1999 he appeared on BBC 1’s ‘The Stand Up Show’, and became a regular member of the Comedy Store’s Cutting Edge team.

The 15th edition of the XFM Stand-up Comedy Show will take place on July 2 and 3.
