After years of darkness, Enemalta did a good job some weeks before Christmas, drilling holes along Għajn Żejtuna Street, in Mellieħa. Then they installed high pylons. Ultimately they fixed the light bulbs. Residents rose in expectatation of the much-awaited illuminations. All Enemalta needed to do was flick on a switch. Unfortunately residents spent Christmas and the start to the new year in bleak darkness. All their hopes have been dashed again.

Disgusting

It has barely been a few months since the completion of restoration of the Valletta landward fortifications. This photo shows the opposite side of the ditch, the counterscarp, seen from the bridge as one heads towards the buses. Disgusting!

Will anybody listen?

Despite close to two years since several calls for the building of an appropriate bus stop shelter at Tal-Qroqq, Msida, have fallen on deaf ears, Transport Malta is again urgently and strongly solicited to provide the numerous daily commuters with a decent shelter from the biting cold, strong winds and heavy downpours which are now in full swing. Hopefully, this plea here will not have to appear again come the scorching sun and heat next summer!

Mind your step

This is the state of part of the paving in front of the old parish church of St Mary’s in Birkirkara. The tiles have come undone a number of times before and been replaced, but to no avail. Obviously, a more permanent solution is needed.

Such waste

This pile of rubbish has been lying outside the entrance to the Central Bank annexe in Valletta since before Christmas. Every morning, Central Bank cleaners are seen hovering outside the bank’s tunnel entrance. Can’t they get rid of the garbage only a few metres away?
