Trucks working at the Safi aviation park are taking a short cut to exit it, driving towards oncoming traffic down a one-way street. It is not as though they have to drive kilometres to make their way down again. A roundabout or turnoff is available only a couple of hundred metres away.

Safety issues

Who is responsible for cleaning the playground at Fleur-de-Lys? Earlier last week, parents were extremely cautious and of two minds whether to allow their children on to the swings as the playing field was strewn with broken glass.

Piet...oso

Pietà residents could not believe it when, just weeks after the new bus lane was completed, this week the contractor was back to dig up parts of the road around the sinking man holes. The residents had objected to the narrow bus lane for safety reasons. A Transport Malta spokeswoman said this was part of a “rigorous quality control process” and the contractor was rectifying works at his cost.

Fishy goings-on

Part of St Francis Square in Victoria has been converted into a fish market. Even if this measure is of a temporary nature, one would have expected – at least out of respect to the people and other VIPs who call at the offices of the Gozo Ministry, which are located in the same square – that the Victoria local council would have taken it in hand to regularly power wash the square and annihilate the fishy odours emanating from the run-off water of the fish trays. On occasion, especially in the evenings, the stench of fishy odours in the square is just unbearable.

Above the law

Why are cars being allowed to park on St George’s Square in Valletta? Isn’t it enough that a tent is already taking up valuable space on the square? Are some people more equal than others, and this only a stone’s throw away from the police station?
