Last July, attention was drawn to the totally unsafe way works were being carried out at St Louis Street, Msida. Some green netting was erected after that. The photo above shows the state of the netting today. During the recent gale force winds, the metal poles were swinging dangerously to and fro. People live and work in this area. Where are the authorities whose duty it is to ensure that safety standards are maintained and that work is carried out within a reasonable time frame and with consideration to the community?

... Or lack of

Health and safety standards have been thrown out of the window by workers setting up the scaffolding outside the Ombudsman’s office in St Paul Street, Valletta. Definitely this is the office that should be setting an example.

Marred view

It is a pity that the breathtaking views at Xlendi are spoilt with the garbage just beyond the railing. More effort should be made to ensure the area, a very popular destination with both locals and foreigners, is kept spotlessly clean.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Double take

The owner of this Audi does not mind taking up two parking spaces at the airport, possibly to ensure that the owners of the cars parked next to his do not in any way scratch or damage his vehicle.

 

 

 

Inflated arrogance

The owner of an inflatable water attraction closes New Mill Street in Mellieħa every now and then to deflate or inflate it. This usually takes an entire morning, causing disruptions to the residents.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overflowing problem

Drainage had been overflowing in Lija onto Naxxar Road, Birkirkara, for at least four whole days last week. A number of relevant authorities were contacted but, still, no action was taken. On Friday, a motorcyclist skidded on the slime.
