The running track at Santa Margherita College, Cospicua, is in a shabby state as the picture shows. Overgrown weeds, plastic bottles scattered all along the track and overfilled plastic bins are not very inviting for those wanting to exercise away from the dangers of traffic. College management please note.

Fixed mobile billboards

The box-van in the photo has been parked (abandoned) in its present position since before Christmas 2013! Oh yes, its road tax is paid and displayed. But surely that does not entitle the owner to hog that piece of road for months on end. The practice of parking big vans covered in advertising material at strategic locations is becoming quite widespread and is basically a way to circumvent and evade the laws regulating billboards.

Which is right?

New parking space markings were painted in St Paul Street, Valletta. However, old double yellow lines that prohibit parking remain. So, which are the markings that drivers should take into account?

Simply no choice

Drivers have no choice but to take the full force of this large pothole as they exit on to Eucharistic Road, towards Mosta. It needs to be seen to immediately because it can only get worse once the rains come.

Parking at a premium

Parking in St Julian’s is already at a premium. Yet, bar owners in the main square have not only decided to hog the pavements with their tables and chairs but have also spilled out on to the road, making the parking situation in the area even more chaotic.
