This picture was taken by a mobile phone on Saturday at 8.30pm when St George’s Square, Valletta, was quite alive. The situation was very much the same two hours later. Why does it have to be so dark? Are the light installations out of order? Is this how Valletta will be regenerated?

Health and safety

A worker was seen carrying out a sanding job in St John’s Square, Valletta, not only without any safety equipment, including goggles, but without taking into consideration pedestrians in the area. No hoarding had been put up and dust was spewing all over the place, including towards the restaurants in the square.

Victoria’s mini dump

Victoria local council should do something about the terrible state of the area reserved for the waste recycling bins at Taċ-Ċawla. For years, all sorts of refuse has been dumped around the bins and no action has ever been taken except for the council clearing the debris every few days. The bins themselves are very dirty and need a good wash.

Parking problems

Parking is at a premium in Malta. The car and the motorcycle above belong to the same owner who no longer resides in Gallina Street, Kappara. They have been there for about seven months, occupying two parking bays that could be used by the residents. What makes matters worse is that the road tax of the motorcycle expired in June.

Lack of courtesy and respect

A van driver and the owner of a luxury car took their arrogance to other extremes. The first parked his vehicle right on the jetty at St Paul’s Bay (left) and the other decided that he could occupy a parking space that is reserved for Blue sticker users in Victoria.
