A few weeks ago, this column highlighted an illegally-built oven outside a room in Mistra. It seems as though such ovens are mushrooming in the bay as this photo indicates. Have they become a new requisite for the Natura 2000 site?

Overflowing bins

Bins on the promenade in Buġibba should be cleaned more frequently, if necessary twice or three times a day, especially in summer. Overflowing bins, early on in the day, give a very scruffy look to the locality that is frequented by many locals and visitors. The local council should get cracking and install more bins.

Shabby look

The picture below features a broken street lamp at Tignè Seafront, Sliema. One of the globes is covered in pigeon droppings. Many other lights are broken in this street and have been so for a long time. This is a place that attracts thousands of tourists. Should the local council or Enemalta take action?

Clean-up needed

Maria Tereża Spinelli Street, in Gżira, needs a thorough clean-up. The local council does not seem too keen to gets its sweepers, arguing it is private land. However, residents in the area disagree. This is a busy stretch as hundreds of people pass through it to get to the national pool.
