Shouldn’t Natura 2000 sites be protected and any further building prohibited? Is the owner of this room in Mistra Bay going to have his newly- built oven, complete with brick chimney, sanctioned? Let’s hope not.

Five months in the dark

A spent bulb in a deserted part of Għar Żerriegħa, in Mtaħleb, was first reported to Rabat local council in December. After several calls to Enemalta, a resident was contacted to show them the exact location. However, the truck could not access the area. He was promised they would return the next day with a smaller vehicle. Four weeks later and the bulb still has not been changed, to the chagrin of the residents in the area.

Hidden danger

Pedestrians in South Street, Valletta, across the road from the open-air theatre, should be aware of a slab that has sunk down a couple of centimetres. It has caught a few pedestrians unaware and is dangerous, especially for the elderly.

More bins needed

It seems that two bins for the whole of Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq (especially at weekends and on public holidays) are sufficient. And, according to the Naxxar local council, the fact that they constantly overflow because there’s no extra service is down to the general public “abusing the system”! Shouldn’t the council be more proactive and provide more bins in the area, especially with summer being round the corner.

Above the law

For months, the driver of this vehicle has taken the habit of parking his van in St Mary Street corner with Gafa Street, Mosta, on a double yellow line, every Saturday evening. It remains there all through the night and for the best part of the following Sunday even though proper parking space is available. Frequent calls to the police have proved fruitless. Is this person perhaps above the law?
