People who regularly walk through the area under Manwel Dimech bridge complained that rubbish had been accumulating for days; as the photo above shows. The situation got worse after a fire at the bring-in-site, leaving a hazard and an eyesore to the disdain of residents.

... and St Paul’s Bay

Similarly, the skips at St Paul’s Bay (next to the football ground) have also been set alight. Is there a vandal out there targeting such sites? Should CCTV cameras be set up in the vicinity to nab the culprits?

Route bus rules

Bus drivers should be given courses in customer care and taught how to respect passengers and their wishes. A commuter travelling on the X1 bus, from the airport, a few days ago, pressed the button to get off at the Swieqi stop on Regional Road. But the driver completely ignored her. When asked why he didn’t stop, he said he didn’t have to! Perhaps not when no one requests it, as it is a busy road, but it is unbelievable that drivers can simply disregard a passenger asking to alight at a posted stop. Arriva cannot be blamed any more and this needs sorting out.

Gas pumps

Malta’s third autogas pump was inaugurated in St Andrew’s last week. It was also announced that a fourth pump is planned for Gozo. But when will this happen?

Mind your step

This game stand at the bottom of the Paceville stairs is an obstacle on a pavement already very tricky to manoeuvre. Couldn’t a better place be found?

Out of bounds

Why is it taking Enemalta or its contractor ages to complete the works in Melita Street, round the corner from St Paul Street, Valletta? The fault seems to have been identified early last week and, yet, the road has remained closed and the works pratically abondoned since.
