Half-baked finish

People enjoying a walk in the recently-inaugurated gardens in Stefanotis Street, San Ġwann, have to watch out for a cable cutting across the path, at neck level, which is used to hold the trees in place. This is, of course, extremely dangerous.

Already neglected

Even though it’s new, somebody has already dumped a sack filled with rubble and a broken wooden pellet at the garden. There have also been reports that civic-minded individuals are taking it upon themselves to water the olive trees because no bowser has been seen anywhere near.

Yacht marina shame

A mess at the Ta’ Xbiex yacht marina persisted for some days last week. It is shameful that the local council allows this to take place in an area that is not only frequented by locals but also by tourists.

No U-turns

Karozzin drivers strut along, even at rush hours, like kings of the road. Wardens and police officers should be on the lookout and knock some sense into them. Only last week, a horse-drawn cab owner, without any indication whatsoever, decided to make a U-turn in the lower end of Ġlormu Cassar Avenue, Valletta, to the surprise of oncoming motorists.

Illegal parking

A vehicle with a licence that expired in March, has been wrongly parked in Tonna Street, Sliema, for at least six weeks. When the matter was reported to the police station the reply was that it cannot be towed away because the contract with the towing company had expired and had not been renewed yet.

Dirty cart ruts

It’s a real shame that San Ġwann local council has not bothered to clean up the cart ruts. They’re in a disgraceful and scandalous state. Not only nothing has been done to upgrade this ancient monument, as has been promised for many years, it now seems to have been abandoned.

Risk to life and limb

Pushchair and wheelchair users have to deal with road furniture on a daily basis, squeeze between parked cars and narrow pavements... and these ramps in Joe Gasan Road, Pietà. These certainly leave pedestrians with no other option but to get off the sidewalk and face the oncoming traffic on the busy road.

Go Greek

Telecommunications company Go should seriously consider the level of service it is offering clients. The other day, the programme Criminal Minds turned to a foreign language after a break for adverts, making the programme impossible to follow. This happened on three consecutive evenings. Moreover, one Thursday morning, E Entertainment was in Italian. Viewers complained that this is not what they paid for and expect Go to remedy the situation.

Stop watch

The clock at the Valletta bus terminus has not been adjusted to reflect summer time. One reason Arriva could mention when it is accused of not sticking to the schedule!

Lacklustre bay

Golden Bay is in need of a thorough clean up. It should then be cleaned regularly. However, beach goers should also be encouraged to make better use of bins, which, if in short supply, should be added immediately.
