Sliema residents were relieved to see the back of a crane, which had been parked on St Paul Street for years until a seemingly never-ending block was completed. The monstrosity might have gone but they are still left with the unsightly tattered green netting that is evidently doing nothing to contain the construction dust.

Water wastage

It is already questionable whether the extraction of ground water by private individuals for resale through the use of bowsers should be allowed. But this water carrier, seen below in Żabbar, was spilling water all over the place as it stopped at the red lights. It may have been extracted for free but wasting water this way is not on.

Down the drain

A broken drain pipe in Old College Street, Sliema, is broken and is a hazard to pedestrians. It was reported to the local council, which said it could not act on the matter.

Hi(Jag)ed entrance

A disrespectful Jaguar driver blocked an entrance to the MCP car park in Floriana, even though there was more than ample parking on the second floor on Friday morning. The way it was parked meant people had to squeeze by the side, apart from the fact that it was impossible for anybody with a pushchair to pass through. Arrogance at its best.

Solar power

Street lights on the hill next to the Addolorata Cemetery were still on at 8.30am in full day light on Tuesday. Can Enemalta please note and modify the timing?

Needle danger

Police on patrol in Valletta and Floriana should include the MCP car park in their rounds. Syringes have been seen littering the steps a couple of times, posing a danger to patrons and staff.

Early delivery

Postmen in San Ġwann still insist on taking a lazier route by driving their scooter on the pavement to deliver the mail. Also in San Ġwann, the stone benches in the newly inaugurated garden in Stefanotis Street have been stolen, leaving people with nowhere to sit and enjoy the green spot.
