Nine months ago, I had forwarded a complaint at the Ombudsman’s office hoping to recover the money I paid for damages to my car. This happened in a road at Safi and the local council is refusing to pay, although I have provided them with all the documentation required.
I have contacted the office of the Ombudsman several times, asking about my case, but to no avail. I came to know of others who, like me, have cases before the Ombudsman and, as these cases involve the government or government entities, are becoming a never-ending story.
In the past, I resorted the office of the Ombudsman several times and was always very satisfied with the service. Cases that were much more complicated than this one were solved in a couple of weeks.
I can’t understand what is keeping the Ombudsman from put an end to such cases. The Ombudsman should know that justice delayed is justice denied. I hope Owen Bonnici, who is responsible for justice on our island, will read this letter and put an end to these delays at the Ombudsman’s office.
