My heart goes out to Joseph Muscat whose light weekend reading is being spoiled by the judge’s historical snippets, revealing an element of Anglophobia. It seems that Muscat is confusing Anglophobia with anti-colonial sentiments.

I happen to know of the suffering and anxiety of some of the families of those interned and exiled, probably unjustifiably, during World War II. Deprived of the head of the family, many dependents found themselves in dire straits and the resulting bitterness and, yes, Anglophobia, are therefore understandable.

If the British government is prepared to apologise to Mau Mau prisoners and even to undertake to pay them compensation then surely it should take similar action with the Maltese internees and their families.
