I would like to point out to Antoine Fiott (Numbers In Maltese, January 24) that a more elegant way to express 101,000 in Maltese is mitt elf u elf. So we should say mitt elf suldat u elf. For 101 soldiers we should say mitt suldat u wieħed or mitt suldat u suldat.
The same goes for 102,000 (mitt elf u elfejn) so that with soldiers it would sound: mitt elf u elfejn suldat.
This does not mean the forms presented by Mr Fiott are wrong. It just means that the ones I proposed are more elegant.
