The number of reported traffic accidents fell by 5.3 per cent to nearly 3,557 between July and September when compared to the same period last year, according to figures from the National Statistics Office.
In those three months, 430 traffic causalities were reported.
They included 244 drivers: one male driver died and another 45 drivers were seriously hurt. Twenty one passengers and 30 pedestrians were also grievously injured. One male pedestrian was killed.
About 72 per cent of traffic casualties were caused by cars, followed by motorcycles at 17.2 per cent, 6.5 per were caused by goods vehicles.
