We recently received the water and electricity bill, covering 60 days of water use and only eight days of electricity consumption.

We are on the ‘smart meter’ system and we were told that the reason for the discrepancy we experienced is that the meter readings are not taken on the same day, as was logically done before changing to the new system.

Is it possible there cannot be more coordination between entities so that the readings are taken on the same day or, at least, a few days’ apart?

It seems that, after all, the old system of a meter reader was smarter than the ‘smart’ system.
