I would like to make a complaint against Arriva Malta and also against the Transport Minister.

On October 9, my partner and 20 other Maltese pensioners travelled from Gozo to Malta at 6.15pm after a day’s outing.

After being crowded onto bus 221 at the ferry terminal we were informed by the driver that the bus would be travelling non-stop to Buġibba bus station. What this in reality means is that 20 pensioners would be standing in a crowded bus for the whole duration of the journey. I find this disgusting.

The driver had disconnected the bell so that it could not be rung. In the end, the pensioners and the other passengers all had to walk to their respective homes from the bus station once in Buġibba.

How can Arriva’s drivers be allowed to change a normal bus service into a non-stop service at their own discretion? And how can they be allowed to cram this number of people onto their buses.

It would be nice to have some kind of apology for the discomfort suffered by this party of pensioners and the other people who had to stand on a bus for over half an hour.
