Some stargazers may have thought they got a lucky break on Tuesday when the lights went out throughout the land, promising an undisturbed look at the night sky and the Perseid meteor shower.
But although light pollution was mostly extinguished, the waning full moon and evening haze meant it wasn’t great for looking up at the stars.
“With such a bright moon it wasn’t much better than usual,” keen astronomer Gordon Caruana Dingli said.
He is hoping for a newer moon the next time such a widespread power cut occurs.
