I have just arrived back from a wonderful evening in Mdina. It was wonderful until we trusted Arriva’s timetable. According to the schedule there should be buses from Rabat to Valletta until 11.15 p.m., leaving Rabat bus terminus. My wife and I were waiting at the bus stop near the playground in front of the Mdina gate from about 10.30 until 10.55 p.m. when a bus 52 arrived.

Even though we were directly at the bus-stop, waving at the driver to stop, he just ignored us. Some minutes later there was a bus 53. He let us board but then drove in the direction of Rabat declaring he would not go to Valletta but finishing in Rabat.

We walked back hoping to get the last bus at 11.15 p.m. but no more buses arrived. We walked back to Mdina to the restaurant we had dinner at to ask for a taxi.

This is not a bus service, this is a mess!

We are a couple who have been coming to Malta for 22 years, two to four times a year and knowing the words “this is Malta”. But we don’t want to accept this kind of treatment any more.

With a bus “service” which let peoples stranded Arriva is contributing to killing tourism in Malta.
