Finally we have a reply from the executive head of the Property Services Department that though scaffolding was erected last November there are no funds available to carry out the actual repair work on balconies in Bastion Street, Senglea.

The bottom line is that the authority is ignoring the fact that safety comes first, and that meanwhile these planks (which are once again out of place) should be properly secured with screws and bolds, not rusty thin wire. A truck has already crashed into one of the displaced planks in the lower level, and the police were called on site to investigate. Still, as the photograph shows, the situation has now gone from bad to worse.
