With reference to the article published in the Times of Malta on December 5, entitled ‘Minister’s chief canvasser to face corruption charges today’, it should be clarified that – contrary to what was stated – no  clearance was needed on the part of the Principal Permanent Secretary for Edward Caruana’s suspension.

This was due to precedents which occurred beforeMr Mario Cutajar was appointed Principal Permanent Secretary.
